As we edge ever closer to the start of the new season and the big kick-off between FA Cup winners Liverpool and Premier League Champions Chelsea, we bring you our top ten goals from The Shield.

From Nicky Butt's flying header and a deft David Beckham lob in 1996, to Thierry Henry's piledriver from distance in 2003, we've got some great strikes from Community Shield history.

Liverpool fans will have happy memories of their last Shield victory in 2001, beating their rivals Manchester United 2-1 at Cardiff was a sweet victory - although it is the consolation strike from that game that makes it onto the list.

Chelsea fans will also fondly remember their victory from 2000 when they also defeated Sir Alex Ferguson's side and the second goal from that game, scored by Mario Melchiot, makes it to number three.
